In this blog we will take a deep dive into the sizing of Blundstone boots and give you all the information you need to ensure you choose the right size for you. We will also provide a guide on how to care for your Blundstone boots and help you to give them a long and high-quality life for the years to come.
Blundstone Sizing / Fit
Blundstone boots are UK sizes and all Blundstone boots have the UK size stamped on the bottom of the boot. Blundstone use standardised measurements for their footwear, however, the use of different materials and the shape of their boots can impact how they fit. An important factor to consider when choosing your Blundstone size is that Blundstone half-sizes go up in width, not length. Blundstone increase the amount of space across the foot in their half sizes by adding more leather to create a wider fit. So, if you have a wider foot, we suggest you select a half size up. For example, a size UK 9.5 would be a wider fitting size 9, not a longer boot. If you need more room in the length, it's advisable to go up a full size.
Getting The Right Fit
Once you’ve established what your size should be, your Blundstone boots should fit true to size. Their leathers will stretch and mould to your feet over time but if you prefer a wider fit and a bit more room than select a half size up. To make sure you have got the right size, when trying on your boots, there should be a slight give in the heel and about a quarter inch of space from the tip of your big toe to the front of your boot. When trying them on, make sure you’re standing up with either socks or stockings on that you’d wear with your boots. With repeated use, your Blundstone boots will stretch slightly over the instep of your foot but will never stretch lengthwise. Lastly, the Classic series are a slightly wider fit than the Originals. While the Dress series are a slightly longer fit than any other Blundstone styles.

Blundstone boots typically have a loose fit and having a centimetre or two of heel lift is very common with these boots. If your boots feel too loose though, Blundstone insoles are available that can be used to snug up the fit. If your boots feel tight at first, the leather will stretch a little bit over time.
What is the break in time for Blundstones?
The supposed break in time for Blundstone boots is about two months as this is the most common timeframe for most people. However, the break in time could be a few days or a few weeks.
Are Blundstones hard to take off?
It is reported that new Blundstone boots can be a little difficult to put on/take off with ease when they are brand new as they are still stiff. Once you’ve worn them quite a few times and they start to loosen up, it will become easier.
Blundstone Boot Care
First Steps
Right, you’ve figured out what size Blundstones you need, bought a pair and they’ve arrived, hooray! You’ve just made an investment and you want to make sure that investment is worthwhile. A key factor to ensuring it is worthwhile is to make sure your Blundstone boots are well looked after so they live a good life and you get your money’s worth. We’re here to help guide you through caring for your Blundstone boots so they maintain their high-quality for the years to come. Although Blundstone boots have been designed to last and are renowned for their durability and long lives, they still need some TLC to ensure they do live for longer than a couple of years. One of the first steps to consider in caring for your boots, is where to store them. It is highly recommended they are stored in a dry, cool and well-ventilated space away from any source of heat, sunlight or damp which would tarnish/ruin the leather.
Cleaning Leather Boots
In order to clean your leather Blundstones, first remove any caked dirt from your boots with a soft bristled brush (all our Blundstone boots include a twin pack of brushes for free) or damp cloth and leave your boots to air dry. Keep them away from direct sunlight or any heaters as this will dry out the leather and crack it. Once dried, apply leather polish or leather cream to the leather. If using polish, apply a small amount to a cloth or brush and rub onto the shoe in circular motions. Wipe away any residue and leave to dry.
Cleaning Suede Boots
In order to clean your suede Blundstone boots, use a suede brush to scrub off any surface stains or dirt. If you are left with any scuff marks, you can remove them with a gum eraser. Simply rub the scuff with the eraser and wipe away the rubber debris. Once clean, apply a waterproof spray on the shoe to help prolong its life. It’s a good idea to waterproof your boots regularly to protect them from staining. If the suede is wet, let it dry naturally prior to cleaning or using cleaning products.
Extra Information
Different Blundstone boots feature different finishes and will need to be treated according to their finish and colour. The Blundstone Renovating Creams are designed to nourish and condition the leather of your Blundstones but should not be used on suede and should be used on the appropriate colour. It is also important to keep the soles clean as this will help avoid permanent stains and minimise contaminates causing damage to your boots. Never dry your boots by an open fire or artificial heat source as this causes the leather harden, shrink and crack. Always let them dry naturally. Avoid exposing your boots to chemical contamination. Solvents, strong acids and alkalis will do irreplaceable damage to your boots whilst common substances like milk and salt can also be highly damaging. In the event of exposure, clean your boots immediately
